The Portofino
These are classic beauties made with figured tops and backs and a through-body neck. Their semi-hollow construction makes them relatively lightweight, and the resonance of the tone chambers produces a phenomenal sound for fretless players. If you’re a fretless guy who wants a bass that can mimic the tone of an upright but also play like a rock bass when you need it to, this is your baby. The Portofino is also available in fretted versions for players looking for a more smooth or compressed tone.
The LSJ
This is the ideal bass for the working musician. Based loosely on the body shape of the Athena guitar model, the LSJ bass is seductively stylish in looks without succumbing to the gaudiness of many modern bass designs. Most importantly, it is an absolute tonal beast. The pairing of my handwound pickups with a custom preamp manufactured exclusively for Jeppson Guitars by Audere Audio provide an almost limitless palette with which to paint your sonic landscape. Slaptones, melodic runs, pounding rhythms or growling ferocity are all at the player’s fingertips, making this the ideal bass for both live performances and studio work. This bass not only blows away everything in its very modest price range, it will more than easily hold its own against instruments costing thousands more.
The Enola
This is the Rolls Royce of Basses. The Enola features the same elegant shape as the LSJ, but has two humbucking pickups encased in wooden pickup covers, each with split coil switches to play in single coil mode. It features a bookmatched private stock figured top, ebony fretboard with flame maple binding, bookmatched flame maple back, and your choice of wood for the body core. Available in 5 or 6 string.
Basses come standard with handwound pickups and a custom preamp built by Audere. The preamp features separate volume controls for the bridge and neck pickups; high and low midrange controls; separate bass and treble controls; and a 3 way switch for normal, bass boost, and Z-mode. All bass necks are made from 3 or 5 piece laminates and include steel rod reinforcement bars and a dual action truss rod for stiffness, eliminating any dead spots.
